Default Problems Ive found using this site

hi, havnt been here for a while due to having various problems with B&s site

1 when I log on, it doesnt recognise me, the only way to fix this I found I would need to refresh after the initial page loads after logging on.

2 The site is very slow to respond, it takes ages for the page to load up, might be that im on dial up, but also might be due to too much stuff on the intro page, the colors, borders background etc, way to much things to get it loaded.

3 Sometimes when i log on it just hangs, I found it does this when im doing other things, eg got my email open or searching google

ps. I dont think its my computer or ISP as most other sites open very quickly and dont have problems logging into my email, or even using file sharing, my connection speed is 115.2 kbps and my pc got 1gb ram and runs at 400fsb and has a 2.66 ghz CPU, and i empty my temp internet files everytime i disconnect.

i love B&S but I dont like comming here due to the above problems

If it's at our end then maybe you can explain these results to me.

4 out of 32 people say the site is slow, since we have changed the style, people have noticed a huge improvement in speed including myself.

If you are using Internet Explorer, then that will be 100% of your problems.

Also, I don't think there are too many developers building systems to cater for dial-up connections, visual impact is a very important aspect of web, if it's not graphically nice, they move on...

Hey Tom, you mention dialup but then state a connection speed of 115kbps? That's ADSL speeds, can you clarify?

I'd take a guess and say that if the site isn't "remembering" you it sounds like a problem with the cookies/cache on your PC. What browser are you using? Do you have firewalls/anti-virus not configured properly?

As for the speed, I've got lower specs than that and I'm finding this new style quite fast in comparison to the old one. Could just need some fine tuning on your PC.

I'd been wondering where you'd gone, good to see you're still about.

I have to admit that using Firefox is a lot faster.

I read this forum at work under IE, the two are like chalk and cheese

Nah cookies go in a different folder so emptying the temp file shouldn't have and effect on those.

Sounds like an issue with browser settings or something.

Have to say the site does seem slow tonight compared to recent days ... go figure.

115.2kbps is the connection speed between your computer and modem. The actual dial-up connection speed would normally be in the 30-52kbps range.

I've found that Google Chrome is a very quick browser if you're after something faster. Not sure how well it works with B&S though - it's got issues with one of my other favourite sites.
