ok, yeah i had a better look at the information you posted previously. Your bike was one of the last models of a straight through exhaust and no exhaust valve in it. So what that fault code means is that the ECU is not receiving feedback from the secondary throttle valve. It doesn't know how much it is opened, or what it is doing. It's not too much of a problem because the 2ndary throttle valve can be removed and is claimed to improve performance without it. The biggest worry is that it will be masking other problems that may come up with the persistant FI light. The work around would be to start tinkering on your STVs, but are you comfortable and mechanically competent enough to do it? |

OK, the best thing to do then is to download the workshop manual. The following section is what I would do, and is only provided for amusement only. I (and the forum) won't be responsible for any emotional responses, blood, swearing or damage that may occur. Find the section in the service manual about checking the STVs, and read it, walk away and have a cuppa, come back and read it. Take the tank off and look at the throttle bodies. Read the section again, look at the pictures and compare to your bike. Swear at how nothing looks the same. Calm down and have a better look. Look at the electrical diagram for the wire colours that go to the STV. Trace the wires, out so you can find the STVs. Read the STV section in the manual again, make sure you fully understand it and then start looking at how to do the calibration checks. Hopefully you'll diagnose something. Most likely you'll end up swearing more! :O |

you can google search for the service manual, since I haven't owned the bike, it's not in my collection of manuals ![]() gixxer.com I'm sure would have a link....maybe search on their site. I know netrider (you posted there as well) has a sticky in one of their sections (trouble shooting or maintenance) with a whole bunch of service manuals happy hunting and let us know what the final outcome is and how you solved it! |
