Spose riding in the heat is one way of shedding some extra kilos though

I believe it would be wise to use one of those backpacks with water and straws. My doc told me that I had dehydration after the pink ribbon ride several weeks ago, just because I didn't keep my fluids up that day (and I thought vodka would have done the trick)

*The ride can also be identified as the one where we all pulled over the side of the road at Mirboo North and near died of exhaustion!
That was the first group ride I went on too. Found dehidration was a big concern aswell but as long as you keep your water level up you should be fine. Easiest way to tell iff you are hydrated correctly is your wee it should be clear and copious. Dark and small amount means dehydration but you will thirsty before then which is the first sign of dehydration.

Pete, Sasha and I did Bombala to Melb 2 Xmas' back in 43 degrees, I remember showering fully clothed (draggins, boots, airflow jacket and leather gloves) under water tanks, several times and I was completely dry in 20 mins.

We had to be home that day, otherwise it was 2 hot to ride

I'll ride anytime if I need to. The last Toy Run was the hottest . Coming home the temperature was 43 and that coming home along Maroondah hwy did nearly finish me - but I've ridden in higher temperatures up north. Theres a big difference though to 43 here in Melbourne to 43 in the top end . 43 in Melbourne is scorchingly hot . I probably wouldn't just go for a rip though if it was over 40 in Melbourne - there would have to be a reason to get on the bike , and it would have to be a good one.

I did that toy run and the bike didn't like it one bit, was on the R6, my legs felt like someone had a blow torch on them.

Dito!

Kept pouring water all over me and kept riding! Legs were getting burnt from stop start city traffic and bike needed a couple of rests due to hitting 130deg+! No matter, I'd do it again!

Just voted "never too hot to ride", but thinking about it, it all depends on the reason behind the ride. Long distance to get to where I'm supposed to be, no problemo. Just to go for a quick burn for the sake of riding, that would depend on the day and I think above 40deg would stop me as I wouldn't have much energy to get out of the A/C pub anyway! For work, I would take the car in hot weather, because I don't want to talk to clients all sweaty and soaking wet!

So basically it ALL DEPENDS!!!

while after during some rides i might think what the hell am i doing out in this heat, then i come up to some of the nicest twitie section and it all comes back to me

the best thing that can be done when it is hot, is to make sure you are riding with your visor shut, poeple seem to think it will be cool on the face to hav it open, but that it definately is not

well I voted never too hot
I have riden during the build up and wet season in Darwin
BUT saying that I also agree with Kate
the heat is completely different down here and I adore Darwin weather the reality is I dont cope well with the heat you guys get down here in melbourne
can make me quite ill without even being out in the sun.

will have to wait and see if my vote changes

But so far I have found I love riding rain, hail or shine
but then I havent riden in snow yet......
