Dont worry Hez, you will get it. Once you have nailed it, you will realise there is a little technique to it and you will never look back

Its ALL technique ( ex instructor talking ) , left hand on grip left grip, right foot on stand "pedal", make sure BOTH legs of stand are on ground, right hand on handle/ rail etc, BACK STRAIGHT. Now straighten right leg and 'stand up straight' D O N OT pull back wards.

I used to have 16 YO girls put my Duc 900 on the stand. it's NOT muscle but technique

Groovy, thanks for posting that, I'll give it a try

EDIT: Nope, no good, I got it on both legs and pushed as hard as I could with my leg. It moved a little, but not enough to get onto the stand.

Pull UP with right hand while straightening leg, I think I forgot that bit.

Your instructions were spot on DMME, it was just operator error from my end

Got it cleared up on the learner course and I can do it now First thing I did when I got home after the first day was give it a shot on my bike and up it went.

Just took having someone there telling me what I was doing wrong, still not totally sure what that was though. Think I wasn't keeping my back straight enough.

OH and I passed No bribery of HART staff involved either

Already have been I took it for a local spin when I got home from the test and then for a more adventurous ride out onto main roads today for around 30-45 mins.

I'm just taking it easy and practising my lane positions as well as checking mirrors. It's been really fun so far despite copping a bit of wind, going over a level crossing and encountering tram tracks. Just remembered everything I've been taught and it was all good.

Aaah the joy of being unemployed (until Wednesday anyway). If the weather holds out tomorrow I'll be out for another ride when peak hour dies down a bit.
