I am heading up to Broadford this weekend to start the running in process of the SV650's, also we need a bit of practice for a race meet early next month. If anyone is not doing anything and wants to check it out, don't forget to come and say hi. You won't miss us with three red SV's side by side, Cejay will be there as well.

Just got home, what an amazing day, weather was magic. Managed to scoot around Broadford 1.11m, but my son to my surprise was doing 1.13.5m by the end of the day, and you are moving along for those time. We did about 180k's around the track, was a good full on day with plenty of track time. Will put the few pics I have up later.

Here is a few photo's of the bikes, we should have the race fairings some time this week, the lap timers worked a treat, will take some photo's soon and put a post up about them, they are a must have if you are trying to get your times down, amazing the difference in time over a session, you see the peaks with times and it allways nice when you see the flashing BEST on the screen, the display is so easy to read when you are coming down the straight. I was a good Dad and let Brayden use the tyre warmers. The Practice Day. [Running in bikes with stock tyres] We head off at 7.00am and catch up with Dave on the ring road to pick up cejay's rear grab bar or which it was being used for colour matching for the race fairings, we leave Dave about 7.45 and continue on our way, a quick stop for fuel in Cambellfield then continue to Broadford, we arrive at about 8.45am, not many people around, so we unload the bikes to a garage up the top so we can see the action all day. We have a chat to a few people then at 9.30 we go and register for the day, $110 each and we are done. Cejay arrives at about 10.00am, I put some numbers on his bike then I hit the track with Brayden. Sessions started around 10.15am, only two groups all day which were below 600 and above 600, most of the day you could just go out when you wanted, they are not very strict on which group you go in. The speaker system wasn't working at the top garages, so it was a case of see what everyone else was doing, people start heading out so it's time to see what these bikes are all about, so I head off and do a few slow laps to get the feel of the bike and warm the tyres, then it was time to see how the bike handles, very different to the R6 as the SV doesn't give you much feedback in the front end, started with 1.16's for a few laps then go down to the 1.14's keeping in mind that I was just running in the bike, so wasn't revving it out too much, after 8 laps the session was over, this continued most of the day with a few moments of the rear letting go coming onto the main straight. Myself and Cejay who was on his 3rd practice day then hit the track together, Cejay started out doing some 1.12's then by the end of the day his best time was 1.07, that's bloody quick, consistently doing between 1.08 - 1.09, Cejay is now running race tyres, he found the feedback was a lot better in the front end, also being his 3rd practice day the bike had already loosed up. The stock tyres were very good overall, the stock hard compound of these tyres don't give you much feel of the front end, very hard to feel what the tyre is doing, on the R6 you could feel the tyre gripping, the SV you feel nothing, it just seems to hand on. So for myself the day ended up doing consistent laps between the 1.11 and 1.12's, took me a long time to work out what gears to use, still don't think I have that sorted, front brakes were very good, the braided lines have been a great improvement, using all the fork travel in the frond end, so not sure if the springs are hard enough that were replaced, well I have not plans on changing them again. My son Brayden [17 years old] who has only been on the track twice before gets out there and is running 1.16's, that is very good for a newbie, he had a hoot of a day, a couple of sessions we went out together I had to work to get passed him, but soon i can see that changing, he managed to get down to 1.13.5 by the end of the day, he looks very smooth out there and it's just a matter of time before he opens the throttle a bit more and brakes a bit later, then it will be dad following his son, I was so proud of how well he can ride. I hope this little report make sense. I will hopefully get some action shots from Cejay with the bikes actually on the track.
