Our first destination was Arthur River. We wanted to say that we had been to the "Edge of the world"! ![]() We had some wicked leans! up to 45 degrees on a straight line! its was nuts! gusts of up to 80 knots! and rain on and off! You have to love the cordura's and admire the plastics in conditions like that! |

Overview of the TAS Trip Day 1 Devonport Weather (rain and strong gusts) Multiple gear changes in 1 day (I was thinking about bringing my leathers) Lucky I didn’t. Burnie: Breakfast at Bango’s bakery Stanley (Information Centre) Up to the Nut (Too windy for Chair lifts) Arthur River (Place called “Edge of the World”) Stayed at Arthur River Cabin Park ($85.00) night (Wind blew out the power in the area) contemplating on leaving! (No hot showers) (Thank god the power came back on at 9:00pm) Day 2 (Showers on and off) Back track to Burnie Up to Dismal Swamp (110m slide) crazy second left (9 second ride) Up to Cradle Mountain (Get the an the Park is closing 5:00pm Quick Smoko!) Starting to get cold rapidly). Needed to make up time! Our destination was Strahan. Moved our butt$ into high gear! Get there at 7:45pm ( maaaaan no accommodation anywhere!) Go to the convenient Store for fuel (No Premium for my mate R6) ask the store owner if she knows of any accommodation in the area. (Made a few Calls and one of her friends had a granny flat at the back of there place) No arguments there $130 and had to get there quick. As we park up the bikes after we arrive we see this 4WD tearing down the street and run to the front door! What the? (looks like some other dudes were looking for the same thing!) Dammmmmm! (we unpacked and went to town for a quick bite) Day 3 (still raining) There is water seepage in Kitchen (wet feet first thing in the morning is not a good way to get up!) Pack out stuff (thank the couple for the Stay) lifesaver! And on our way again! Off towards Queenstown (Note the roads are fantastic!) Wish it was dry! Note: Look out for trucks double lane-ing (those guys and girls are Nuts) Off to Tarraleah Hydro Lookout (commissioned in 1938) Easy day! Up to New Norfolk! The only day that we got the tent out! Day 4 Head towards Huonville (Jet boat ride “a bit of fun”) Look out for “Jet boat Joe” good bloke and well traveled! Off to Hastings Springs (thought we would get a bath in “after all we on break”) Rush to the Tahune Air Walk (again we arrive at 20min to closing) Note that running in cordura’s is not Fun. Book accommodation at the Lufra Hotel. Get at the Lufra Hotel at 7:30pm Have a shower order meals eat and dress at the same time. (got a booked tour of Port Arthur at 8:15pm) Let me just say that our bikes became Flying horses “Pegasus”. Please watch out for wild life. They definitely don’t watch out for you. Did the Ghost Tour and guess what? On the way back it started raining again! (I didn’t really miss it) Day 5 Off to the Devil Park (wild life) hmmmm interesting! Easy day of riding! To Coles Bay (Freycinet) We stayed at a place called the DOVE (Executive accommodation) Day 6 Easy ride, up to the lookout! (Wine Glass Bay) Pack our stuff and off to Bicheno. Double back to Kays Berry Farm (friend is a berry freak) From here there is a left turn off just before Little Swanport. (great little road with some very tight corners) Off to Mole Creek Stayed at he Mole Creek Cabins. Had dinner at the Pub (mmmmmmmmm) Day 7 Back to Cradle mountain (full tour) day trip On the way back my mate had to stop for wild berries! (big mistake) The poor bloke copped a slow puncture in the rear tire! I had to go back to the cabin and get the Motul tire repair! Man was he glad to see me when I got back! Day 8 My mate had a tast for Humble Pie and was my pillion all day! Alum Cliffs, Marracoopa Caves, King Solomon’s Caves. Packed our stuff and headed up to Sheffield for a late lunch Back to the ship |
